Your website might be invisible, and nobody would tell you
A homeowner with a leak searches "plumber near me," or asks ChatGPT who to call. The answer goes to the businesses whose websites Google and AI can read and trust. If yours can't be read, the call goes to the next truck on the list, and you never hear about it.
Krista found this out with her own site: she paid a website company for it, and when she checked it, it scored a D. When she asked AI to recommend an auto shop in town, her husband's shop didn't come up at all, until it got a proper site. The KMC Website Ranker is how a local business sees the truth about its website in a minute.

What the KMC Website Ranker checks
Put in a website address and the ranker reads the site the way Google and an AI assistant do: its pages and the links between them. It scores eight areas and gives you one number out of 100.
- Google's own test, on a phone. Lighthouse, the same test Google publishes, run on a phone: speed, accessibility, best practices and SEO, each against a launch target. Most of your customers search on a phone, often in a hurry, so a slow page sends them to the next result on the map.
- Can Google and AI assistants find it. A secure connection and a valid certificate, a sitemap, search engines allowed in, page titles and descriptions, one main heading, a canonical address, a share preview, works on a phone, every image described, words readable without JavaScript, and an llms.txt file written for AI assistants. When a homeowner asks an assistant who to call in their town, these are the basics it needs before it can send them to you.
- Structured data. The behind-the-scenes labels that tell AI what your business is: on every page, written correctly, every item typed, every reference resolving, a clear statement that this is a business, and questions marked up for AI answers. This is how AI learns your trade, your service area, your hours and that you are a real local business, not a lead-buying directory.
- Broken pages and dead ends. Pages that fail to load, links that lead nowhere, and pages with no way home or to contact you. A quote form or a phone link that doesn't work is a job that went to someone else.
- The words on the page. Leftover template text, blanks never filled in, claims you would have to prove, wording that sounds like a robot, and near-duplicate pages. Your trade has rules about licence numbers and claims, and the ranker checks the ones it knows for your state.
- Your trade's advertising rules. The ranker knows the rules for contractors, roofers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, landscapers, pest control, auto repair, salons, barbers, med spas and dentists: license numbers shown where the site says licensed, claims your state does not allow, and the FTC basics for every business.
- Privacy. A privacy policy, and whether every tracking tool on the site is named in it. If you run ads or call tracking, those tools have to be named in your privacy policy.
Anything it could not measure is listed as not measured, never as passed. If a security shield blocks the check, the report says so instead of guessing.
Why so many websites score badly
Most websites don't fail because someone did a bad job on launch day. They fail because nobody owns the upkeep afterward.
- PHP and WordPress that nobody updates. A lot of small-business sites run on WordPress, which runs on a server language called PHP. Each version of PHP gets security fixes for a limited time and then none, and hosting plans keep running the old version until someone upgrades it. The plugins and themes need updating too. Skip the updates and the site gets slower and less safe every month.
- Plugins and page builders stacked on top of each other. A contractor's site built years ago on a theme with a quote-form plugin, a gallery plugin, a page builder and a slider is exactly the kind of site that slows down and falls behind. Every plugin adds code a phone has to download before the page appears.
- Words that only appear after JavaScript runs. Many AI tools read the words that are there when the page loads. If your words only appear after scripts run, an assistant can see an empty page.
- No structured data. Without it, AI has to guess what your business is, where it is and what it does. Guessing is how you get left out of the answer.
- A site you rent, not own. If the hosting, the domain or the login is in someone else's name, you can't fix any of this yourself. Krista's questions for whoever runs your site: whose name is the hosting in, whose name is the domain in, who has the login, what version of PHP is the site on and when was it last updated, and could you take everything and move it today?
Why sites built with BOSS score better
The sites Krista's team builds start from the checks above instead of hoping to pass them later. There is no WordPress and no PHP to patch: pages are built ahead of time, so they load fast and the words are there for Google and AI the moment the page opens. Structured data, a sitemap, an llms.txt file and canonical addresses are on every page from day one, and the site has to pass a launch check before it goes live. Your trade, your service area and your hours are marked up for AI on every page from the first day.
You own it, in your own accounts, and BOSS keeps it current: when the site engine gets an improvement or a security fix, your site can pull it in. The sample report on this page shows the difference: Krista's old site against The Mashore Group site her team built with BOSS. The BOSS site is not perfect either. It still has two things to fix, and the report says so.

The KMC Website Ranker is built into BOSS, too
This free version is the same engine that comes inside BOSS. There, your AI team runs it whenever you ask: on your site, on a site before it launches, or on up to three sites side by side, and then it helps you fix what it finds. The free checks are how you see it work first.
Who it is for
It is for plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians, roofers, cleaners, auto repair shops, landscapers and every other local business that gets customers from Google and the map. Check your own site, then check the competitor whose truck you keep seeing.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Five free checks, no card. Sign up with your email, and the link arrives in your inbox.
Why does it need my email?
Your email is what unlocks your five checks and counts them. Use the same address you signed up with when you run a check.
Can I check a competitor's website?
Yes. Any public website. Many people check their own site, the competitor they lose to most, and their own site again after the fixes.
How long does a check take?
Usually about a minute. A large or slow site can take a few minutes.
Will it fix my website?
No. It tells you exactly what to fix, page by page, in plain words. BOSS can fix it for you, or you can hand the report to whoever runs your site.
Does it know the rules for my trade?
For many trades, yes: contractors, roofers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, landscapers, pest control, auto repair, salons, barbers, med spas and dentists. It finds your state on the site, flags claims your state does not allow, and checks that a licence number shows where the site says you are licensed.
