So what are the best tools that you should be using to create video content?
Here's a secret for you.
People are more concerned with the actual content that's in the video than the actual video production. In fact, there is research to support this. You don't have to be perfect. The idea is just to do it, do it. The idea is to create content that is engaging, that solves people's problems, that serves people. Don't worry about the graphics, just get started.
So many people say they are getting ready, they're aiming, but they never actually fire! If you fire more often than not, you're going to get better and better at video content as you start to get better and feel more comfortable. Here's the thing. At first, no one's going to be watching anyways, and that's OK. You don't want them to because you're going to probably suck at first. You're going to suck, and that's ok. But the idea is you'll get better as time goes by.
You Will Get Better
You'll get better and better and then you can start adding graphics. When I first started doing video, I was not the best. I was absolutely petrified of it. I was terrified. I made mistakes all the time, it took me an hour to do what now takes me now ten minutes to do. But as I kept practicing and continuing to be perfectly imperfect, it got easier for me.
But honestly nobody wants perfect. No one likes perfect. Right? People like people that are like them and we are all imperfect human beings. So the only thing you need to create good video content that is engaging. You need to be solving a problem, helping people, serving, not selling! Make sure there's no crazy noise going on like planes going overhead or train horns blowing off. Make sure there's no dirty video or dirty dirty underwear in the background.
Make sure you use nice backgrounds and that you're actually looking in the camera. So many people look up above the camera or down below it. Also, you don't even need fancy lights unless you are shooting the video at night or in the dark. You just need a nice window in front of you. The natural lighting is the absolute best! In fact, take your camera right now, go in front of in front of a window and look how pretty it looks. Then put the window behind you and you're going to see just how different the video looks and how much clearer it is.
Don't Overthink It!
Don't overthink things! Just start creating content and you can use things like iMovie or other really inexpensive, affordable type of apps to generate graphics at a later time. But just start to be consistent, and be committed to producing content, be committed to solving the problems and be engaging. Help that customer that you're going after in particular. I know you wanted me to tell you to make sure that you get this at this certain camera, this certain thing.
The bottom line is that most of you just need to start be yourself, be authentic, be perfectly imperfect. Make mistakes. Take action. So many people make great videos they don't ever put them out there to the world because they're embarrassed. Here's the deal, that's how you look and sound! I can think of some pretty amazing billionaires that don't exactly look the best.
