Affirmations – I Can, I Am, I Will

We’re working on keeping a healthy mindset in this series.
But I know in times like this with everything hitting the fan, it’s really easy to get caught up in negative thinking and worry. We know that kind of thinking is not good for us, right? But it’s like our minds have a mind of their own!

If we aren’t paying attention, our minds take off on their own and twenty minutes later, we will feel horrible and hopeless. It’s like we start to think about a story with a horrible ending when most of the time it never happens at all.
The good news is that we can choose what we think. We can cut our internal negative Nellie off at the pass by using affirmations. An affirmation is just a simple, positive statement that feels good to you. I personally use them all the time.
When your mind starts to spiral into negativity, you can interrupt it with an affirmation. The key is to have a bunch of them ready, affirmations that you like and that ring true to you. (Research has shown that if you try using affirmations that don’t ring true, they can make you feel even worse!) I’m going to give you a few suggestions.

Can I ask you a favor?

I want you to repeat them after me to see how they feel to you.
At this moment, I am safe, whole and healthy. All is well. I forgive myself. I’m not perfect, I’m human. I have survived in tough times before and I will again.

This too shall pass.

I can choose to grow and be positive starting now. I have enough inner strength and inner resources to deal with anything. I trust my intuition and inner wisdom. I don’t yet see the good in this situation, but I trust that it is there. I can make a positive contribution to my world. My family and friends love me, believe in me, and support me. Every problem has a solution. Everything works out for my highest good. The answer is right in front of me even if I don’t yet see it. I release the past. It has no power over me. I was born to be a light in this world. Today is a brand new baby day. I embrace it and all the miracles it will bring.

Now, how did those feel?

Did you find a couple that you can relate to? If so, jot them down and repeat them often. You can make them part of your morning practice or say them before you go to bed.

With enough repetition, they’ll instantly start popping into your head whenever your brain takes off down a negative path.

I actually have a recording of affirmations where I have recorded my voice and I play it over and over, so that way I’m hearing myself tell myself how great things are. You can access that here —>!

And I’d love to see any affirmations you really like.

Please share them.
